The fibers
What do chicory inulin and potato resistant starch do?
Both pass the small intestine undigested. Bacteria in the colon ferment them. Research doses are in grams.
Chicory root inulin, 211 mg
A review of 32 trials reported about 0.97 kg more weight loss at a median 10 g a day; a chicory-fiber supplier funded it (Meta-analysis: chicory inulin and weight (2024), trade report). A 12-week trial of 21 g a day of oligofructose saw a 1.03 kg loss versus a 0.45 kg gain on placebo (Oligofructose trial, 21 g a day (2009)). Profile: chicory root inulin.
Potato resistant starch, 100 mg
The potato trial used 30 g a day and reported glucose changes in older adults, with no weight result (Potato resistant starch trial, 30 g a day (2018)). Two reviews of resistant starch found little or no change in body weight (Meta-analysis: resistant starch type 2 (2019)) (Meta-analysis: resistant starch (2025)). Profile: potato resistant starch.

Dose check
How do SlimTide doses compare with the amounts studied?
The gap is large: roughly 47 to 100 times less inulin and about 300 times less potato starch than trials used.
| Ingredient | On the label | Per 1-capsule serving | Amount used in research | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chicory root inulin | 1st line on the label | 211 mg | Median 10 g a day in 32 trials; 21 g a day of oligofructose in a 12-week trial (Meta-analysis: chicory inulin and weight (2024), trade report) (Oligofructose trial, 21 g a day (2009)) | Small effect at gram doses |
| Potato resistant starch | 2nd line on the label | 100 mg | 30 g a day of potato resistant starch for 12 weeks (Meta-analysis: resistant starch type 2 (2019)) (Meta-analysis: resistant starch (2025)) | Little or no weight effect |
| Akkermansia muciniphila | Probiotic Blend, 3rd name listed | Part of a 36 mg blend; its share, form and CFU are not printed | About 10 billion pasteurized cells a day for 3 months in a 32-person pilot (Akkermansia pilot study (2019)) (NIH ODS: probiotics) | Early, exploratory |
| Bifidobacterium infantis | Probiotic Blend, 1st name listed | Part of a 36 mg blend; its share and CFU are not printed | No weight trial of this species alone in our sources; mixed-probiotic reviews find under 1 kg (NIH ODS: weight-loss supplements) (Meta-analysis: probiotics and weight (2019)) | Not shown for weight |
| Clostridium butyricum | Probiotic Blend, 2nd name listed | Part of a 36 mg blend; its share and CFU are not printed | No weight trial of this species alone in our sources (NIH ODS: weight-loss supplements) (NCCIH: probiotics safety) | Not shown for weight |
Even the slow fiber step-up NIDDK suggests for comfort is 2 to 3 g a day (NIDDK: IBS diet and fiber), six to ten times the capsule's 311 mg. Full math: how SlimTide works.
The probiotics
What do the three SlimTide probiotics add?
The evidence is early and mixed. NIH rates the effect of probiotics on body weight as inconsistent (NIH ODS: weight-loss supplements), and a 2019 review of 25 weight trials found an average 0.94 kg, called minor (Meta-analysis: probiotics and weight (2019)).
- Akkermansia muciniphila. In a 32-person pilot, about 10 billion pasteurized cells a day improved insulin sensitivity; the weight difference was not significant (Akkermansia pilot study (2019)). SlimTide does not say which form it uses. Akkermansia profile.
- Bifidobacterium infantis. No weight trial of this species alone in our sources. B. infantis profile.
- Clostridium butyricum. No weight trial of this species alone in our sources. C. butyricum profile.
One strain's benefit does not transfer to another (NCCIH: probiotics safety), and no strain codes are printed.

What are the other ingredients in SlimTide?
Four are listed: hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and silica. Hypromellose is the vegetarian capsule.
| Ingredient | Usual role | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Hypromellose | The capsule shell, plant based (label: "vegetarian capsule") | Not published |
| Microcrystalline cellulose | A plant cellulose filler that helps fill the capsule evenly | Not published |
| Magnesium stearate | A flow aid that keeps powder from sticking to machines | Not published |
| Silica | An anti-caking agent that keeps powder loose | Not published |
These are standard capsule helpers. Full typed label: SlimTide Supplement Facts.
Pictures vs label
Are the fruits in SlimTide ads part of the formula?

No. Brand photos add berries, limes, pears and leaves for color. Only chicory and potato appear on the label. When a picture and the panel disagree, trust the panel.
Fair summary
Are SlimTide's ingredients worth it?
It depends on what you expect. As a small daily fiber and probiotic capsule, the list is short and lists no caffeine or stimulant. As a weight product, the doses sit well below the research.
In its favor
- Both fiber amounts printed
- Three species named, more than many labels show
- One capsule a day, vegetarian shell
- Fiber far below the levels tied to gas in trials
Against it
- Fiber doses 47 to 300 times below studied amounts
- No CFU count or strain codes
- No trial of the SlimTide formula
- Akkermansia data from one small pilot
Ask a physician first if the label caution fits you.
FAQ
SlimTide ingredients FAQ
What are the main ingredients in SlimTide?
SlimTide's main ingredients are chicory root inulin at 211 mg and potato resistant starch at 100 mg per capsule, plus a 36 mg probiotic blend. The blend names Bifidobacterium infantis, Clostridium butyricum and Akkermansia muciniphila without a split between them.
How much fiber is in one SlimTide capsule?
About 311 mg, which is roughly a third of a gram. That is 211 mg of chicory inulin plus 100 mg of potato resistant starch. NIDDK's gentle fiber step-up is 2 to 3 g a day (NIDDK: IBS diet and fiber), so food still supplies the real fiber.
Is the Akkermansia in SlimTide live or pasteurized?
The label does not say. The main human study gave about 10 billion pasteurized cells a day for 3 months to a small group, and weight change was not significant (Akkermansia pilot study (2019)). Ask the order desk at +1 (302) 200-3480 for the form and count.
Is inulin in SlimTide the same as in fiber powders?
Both use inulin from chicory root, but the amounts differ greatly. Weight studies used a median of 10 g a day (Meta-analysis: chicory inulin and weight (2024), trade report), while one SlimTide capsule has 211 mg. That is about 1/47 of the median.
Does SlimTide have any fillers?
Yes, three common capsule helpers: microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and silica, along with the hypromellose shell. Their amounts are not printed. They help powder flow and fill each capsule evenly.
Which SlimTide ingredient has the most research?
Chicory inulin has the most weight research, with 32 trials pooled in one review (Meta-analysis: chicory inulin and weight (2024), trade report). Those trials used grams a day, though. Akkermansia has one small pilot, and the other two species have no weight trial alone in our sources.
